Cynthia Smith is a licensed Acupuncturist specialized in Mind-Body Medicine and pain management. She is qualified to work with acute and chronic health problems to reduce symptoms, restore health and well being, and improve the quality of your life with treatment plans that address the root cause of illness and restore balance in the body.
As a graduate of Tri-State College of Acupuncture and Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in NYC, Ms. Smith studied Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and herbs; the traditional teachings of Japanese Masters; and the innovative treatments of Janet Travell, author of Myofascial Pain and Dysfunction. She is trained in Acupuncture Physical Medicine (APM), channel palpation and differential diagnosis, and has a specialty in trigger point myofascial release, E-stim, therapeutic massage, cupping, moxibustion – all different, but equally effective techniques proven to move obstructions and relieve chronic pain problems.
Ms. Smith holds a Master of Science in Acupuncture and a BA in Cultural Anthropology. She subscribes to the Food-As-Medicine movement, a whole-body nutritional system focused on illness prevention and vibrant health. She is also a certified ISHTA yoga teacher and incorporates movement and meditation techniques into her treatment plans.
Ms. Smith’s clinical training in Acupuncture combined with her knowledge of modern pathologies allows her to treat both physical pain, internal medicine conditions and orthopedic constraints activating the bodies natural pain blocking mechanisms without the use of drugs or prescriptions medications.
